Capacity Development is formed by Be You, Be Well, Capacity Development. We have the El Paso Association of Directors of Guidance and Counseling focused on providing support, brings awareness, and guidance towards a more trauma-informed approach in school districts by giving workshops/presentations to the EPADOG members in collaboration with the SISD Director of Guidance and Counseling.
Capacity Development is The Trauma-Informed Approach Initiative provides training sessions, information, resources, and technical assistance regarding trauma sensitivity and resiliency to every staff member within SISD; this includes all High schools, Middle schools, and Elementary schools. Our goal is to train 6,000 SISD staff members by the end of the grant period. The third component of Capacity Development is the implementation of an evidence-based program; the Student Assistance Program (SAP). In collaboration with SISD, the SAP is intended to help to link students and families to social and mental health services. The goal is to implement it in one feeder pattern and as well as collaborate with community agencies that provide services on campus in order to simplify access.
