CHW Apprenticeship Certification Program

In this year-long program get on-the-job training while earning a certificate as a Community Health Worker / promotores de salud (CHWs)

Requirements for Apprenticeship:

  • High School/ GED

  • Citizenship/Resident

  • Bilingual

  • Live within El Paso County Limits

 

Community health workers Promotores de salud (chws) certification program

Free tuition and stipends given to eliminate barriers!

Learn about diseases, advocacy, communication, wellness, emotional intelligence, prevention/research, domestic violence and other topics that will help you and the community!

In person classes every Saturday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm for a six month period.

Requirements for Apprenticeship:

  • High School/ GED

  • Citizenship/Resident

  • Bilingual

  • Live within El Paso County Limits

The Upskilling Community Health Worker CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Certified CHW will be able to increase their capacities and knowledge on these topics:

  • Trauma Informed Care

  • Emotional Intelligence

  • Diversity

  • Basic Healthcare Navigation

  • Data Collection Fundamentals

  • Technology Platforms

  • Emergency Preparedness

  • Wellness and Community Health

  • Prevention

Hybrid courses for 3 months

Certified Community Health Workers by the Texas DSHS are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education units (CEUs) every two years to renew the certification for the following years.

Requirements for Apprenticeship:

  • High School/ GED

  • Citizenship/Resident

  • Bilingual

  • Live within El Paso County

  • Texas CHW certification

  • Unemployed
