FuturGen
FuturGen is an evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention program that focuses on addressing the barriers that hinder El Paso County adolescents from obtaining optimal health.
The program delivers programming in three settings in El Paso County including school districts, community, and healthcare settings, with a specific focus on teen pregnancy prevention and the reduction of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV.
Our goal is to advance equity in adolescent health by targeting resources to specifically support the replication of medically accurate and age-appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs.

It may appear as an assumption that when parents talk to their child about sex and birth control it means you are giving permission to do it. Parents of those who talk to their teens about pregnancy, sex and birth control choose to wait to become sexually active, and those teens most likely will use a form of birth control if and when they start.
-
If your teen asks about sex, it is very important not to get upset or have a bad reaction they may not want to ask about it again.
Starting with a small talk about interest they may have and may have questions about, this is to help everyone feel comfortable and at ease.
Prepare questions in advance
Discussing the importance of a conversation about respect and consent in a relationship which can be between a partner or friends.
Consider moments that can be a teaching moment, talk about things like teen pregnancy, family planning and birth control. Keep the conversation going with your teen.
Move away from the sexual health conversation but focusing on the emotional consequences that may come with becoming sexually active and having a sexual relationship.
If a question comes up, be honest with your teen and reach out to someone that does know the answer to their question.
Have the confidence to explain why you want them to wait. They are most likely to listen while waiting.
Be involved in your teen’s life!
