Each age group in the Early Childhood Development Center has a dedicated room for instruction and childcare:
Infants and toddlers
2-3 year olds
3-4 year olds
4-5 year olds
The center has limited short-term scholarships available to families who qualify, which are meant to serve as a bridge while on the CSS waiting list, or other similar services. Families receiving these scholarships are expected to work or study at least 25 hours during the week, and to attend parenting education classes.
For parents enrolled in Borderplex Workforce Solutions, Child Care Services (CCS)
determines eligibility for subsidized childcare based on family income. Limited scholarships are available while parents comply with CCS eligibility.
Parents interested in enrolling their children in the Childhood Development Center should call the center at (915) 465-1191 Ext. 213 to schedule an appointment.
Project Vida's comprehensive Early Childhood Development program also offers Parenting Education. In cooperation with United Way of El Paso County and Americorps, Early Childhood Development offers one-on-one in-home visits by Americorps members using the "Parents as Teachers" curriculum. The Early Childhood Development Center offers the "Nurturing Parent/Crianza con Cariño" program in group sessions. There is no charge for any part of the Parenting Education Program. Click Parenting Education for additional information, or click on the heading below to learn more about the history of the program.
This program started in September of 1995, as one of the original programs of Project Vida. In the central El Paso area, there was a lack of licensed childcare providers. Because of that, there was a noticeable delay in the development of children. The center also ran programs to promote parenting strategies, by creating a safe space for children and their families to learn in. Since then, this has transformed into the current Parenting Education Classes.
